The MOdified Newtonian Dynamics (MOND) model has shown to be a very serious competitor to the standard LCDM cosmological paradigm on the scales of galaxies. In cosmological scales, the situation is still not so clear. The main goal of my thesis is to test whether MOND can reproduce the success of the standard model in the context of post-recombination cosmological evolution, especially in the non-linear regime.
The very few works that already exist in MONDian cosmology show pessimistic results, but they are based on a set of untested hypothesis. Special effort was put during this thesis in relaxing these hypothesis. The simple MOND formula previously employed was changed by conservative versions of MOND (three different conservative formulations were studied). The treatment of the linear evolution was also improved. As MOND is a non-linear theory, the linear evolution can not be treated analytically. This thesis proposed a method to calculated the linear cosmological evolution with MOND in a self consistent way, taking into account environmental effects. The generation of initial conditions for the non-linear simulations was also improved by taking into account this self consistent linear solutions.
Besides the treatment of some of the fundamental problems related to the cosmological behavior of MOND, this thesis also presents a set of simulations especially designed to give the observed power spectrum at redshift z=0. Using this simulations, a direct comparison between many observables in the standard and MONDian pictures is performed.
