Using two-dimensional MHD simulations, the formation of plasmoids and their acceleration are analyzed under different resistivity laws. The plasmoid acceleration is analyzed by either localizing a resistivity at some near-earth distance and keeping it fixed in time or by assuming a resistivity which depends on the electrical current density. The results are compared with the case of a spatially and temporally constant resistivity. It is shown that different resistivity laws lead to different plasmoid behavior.
