Although some models of 'filled-centre' remnants predict a decreasing flux density for 3C 58, the remnant of the supernova of AD 1181, recently reported observations have shown that its flux density has increased at 8.0 GHz between 1968 and 1985. This paper compares observations of 3C 58 made with the Cambridge One-Mile Telescope in 1967 and 1986 which show that its flux density has also increased at 408 MHz. The derived flux density ratio for 3C 58 is 1.062 between 1967 December and 1986 August with an uncertainty of 0.026, which is an increase of 0.32±0.13 per cent yr-1.
