It is proposed that the diameter-velocity dispersion relations recently reported by Scoville et al. for molecular clouds with and without associated H II regions are similar for the larger (diameter ⪆30 pc) clouds of these two populations, but different for smaller clouds. The anomalous behavior of the diameter-velocity dispersion relation for small molecular clouds associated with H II regions is due to the more efficient coupling of wave energy input at smaller scales, large clouds and cloud complexes being rather inhomogeneous and mostly filled with a low-density, warm H I gas. Small clouds, such as H II region clouds with D ⪉ 30 - 40 pc, experiencing active energy injection, are not likely to be in virial equilibrium.
