The embedding of gravitational radiation with clearly identifiable wave fronts in cosmological models involves the identification, in the cosmological model, of a naturally occurring null coordinate, so that the null hypersurface u = constant might be used, asymptotically, as the histories of the wave fronts. New forms are presented here of the open Friedmann-Lemaitre-Robertson-Walker models and of the open Kantowski-Sachs models, in coordinate systems based upon naturally occurring hypersurface-orthogonal, null geodesic congruences in these spacetimes. Their suitability for use in embedding gravitational radiation in these universes is discussed.
