The necessary conditions for successful launch of the two sounding rockets of the ARAKS experiment were presented. The astronomical conditions at Kerguelen and Sogra were reviewed, leading to three possible launch windows. The conditions are further refined by the need for geomagnetic quiet conditions at the launch site and magnetic conjugate observation point. The meteorological conditions are described.
