Protogalaxies: Star Formation
Scientific paper
The scenario of protogalactic evolution at the stage of formation of the first stars is presented. The main features are the following: (a) at central parts of protogalaxy the massive stars (M ≡ 10 - 20 Msun) of population III are burned; (b) a few tens Myrs later the supernova explosions begin in population III, this leads to the enrichment of environment gas by heavy elements and to the generation of large-scale shock wave; (c) after dense shell-formation gravitational fragmentation takes place in 107years. At the end of this cascade the population II stars are formed with large radial velocities (≡300 km/s). The luminosity of a protogalaxy in such a scheme is estimated.
