An automated classification in spectral types, luminosities and metallicities using the photometric observations in the Vilnius system of a sample of 78 field stars in the direction of the North Galactic Pole has been achieved, using a new software. For comparison, the spectral classification has been done by the discrete two-colour and two-Q methods developed by Vilnius astronomers, and the results are found to be in good agreement. The ages of the field stars are estimated from isochrones in the HR diagram.
