The authors discuss the morphology and kinematics of the ionized gas and stars in Mkn 52. They present the overall far-UV to far-IR continuum and its main components. From optical long slit spectroscopy, they derive the main characteristics of the ionized gas (line intensities, electronic temperature and density, total mass). The observed UBV colors and rough estimate of the metallicity are accounted for by a stellar population synthesis model. The importance of Wolf-Rayet stars as an ionizing source for the gas is discussed.
