The Gauss-Enke method is presently used to compute elliptical orbits, in order to ascertain the method's sensitivity to systematic observational errors. After refining the method through incorporation of the geocentric-distance variation due to Stracke (1929), five asteroids discovered at ESO-La Silla are studied. For constant theta, the error effect vs rho is found to be linear.
