Strömgren photometry on red giants in the globular cluster M55 (NGC
6809) has been performed. The average metallicity is -1.88 dex, as
derived from a calibration based on globular cluster giants. The
distribution of Strömgren colours shows a bimodal pattern which is
tentatively interpreted as an effect of bimodal carbon abundance.
