Observational data from a 408-MHz survey of radio sources in the galactic plane are statistically examined, with particular emphasis on discrimination between galactic and extragalactic sources. The survey was carried out using the East-West arm of the Bologna radio telescope in the region of 15 to 245 deg longitude and not more than 4 deg latitude. Arguments on the nature of particular sources are based on statistical interpretations of source counts, spatial distribution, spectral indices, and diameter distributions.
