A review is presented of four aspects of cosmic ray physics. They are:
(1) the composition of cosmic rays at the source, (2) the composition of
high energy cosmic rays, (3) hydromagnetic waves and their role in the
confinement of cosmic rays to the Galaxy, and (4) gamma rays and the
distribution of gas, magnetic field and cosmic rays in the Galaxy.
