A brief review is presented of recent literature on the solar cosmic ray phenomenon. Consideration is given to pulsed solar-particle events, and a classification of solar flares is presented in terms of corpuscular emission. The composition of solar particles is examined and attention is given to the nuclear-reaction mechanism for the production of solar cosmic rays.
