A probable correlation between 48-hour variations of the meridional component of meteor-trail drift and solar wind effects on the upper atmosphere was found in equatorial meteor trail drift data for 1968-1970. Consideration is given to the relative spectral density of drift rate in the meridional and zonal directions and histograms are presented for meridional and zonal drift rates for cases of change in the sign of the interplanetary magnetic field.
