Type I and Type III bursts can be used to probe the corona, while Type III bursts provide information on the interplanetary medium. Simultaneous observations in two widely different directions (stereo observations) can yield the angular distribution of some burst characteristics or their position in space. In the present paper, some results of stereo observations of Type I and Type III bursts are analyzed, and the directivity of Type I and Type III bursts is assessed. It is shown how, using a remote sensing technique, a three-dimensional picture of a large portion of the heliosphere can be obtained, in the form of a plot of magnetic lines of force and the electron density distribution, over a considerable range of distances to the sun.
