The progression from impact to explosion craters over the shock-velocity range from 3 to 10 km/s is studied. Final meteorite masses and minimum crater diameters are computed for different shock velocities and power-law indices in the equation describing changes in meteorite shape. It is shown that the minimum diameter of terrestrial explosion craters is about 25 to 30 meters, and the number of kilometer-size primary and secondary lunar craters is considered. It is concluded that the number of primary lunar craters with diameters of at least 3 km is double the number of secondaries.
