The paper is concerned with the non-self-similar problem of a strong explosion of an ideal gravitating gas undergoing uniform parabolic compression at zero pressure. The problem is solved using the direct method based on the assumption of a linear radial velocity distribution behind the shock wave. This assumption makes it possible to satisfy all boundary conditions and the integral energy equation.
