Intensive photometry of 17 early-B stars in the young open cluster NGC 6231 was conducted in order to map the Beta Cephei instability strip near the zero-age main sequence. The discovery of two certain Beta Cephei stars in addition to the four already known is reported. One probable and two possible variables of this class were also found. Several other stars in the instability strip were observed to be constant or microvariables of undertermined periods. One star is an eclipsing binary.
