Griersmith et al. (1982) have presented multiaperture UBVJHK photometry of the inner (bulge) regions of a large sample of early-type spiral galaxies. In the UVK and JHK diagrams about one quarter of the class A early-type spirals have unusual colors compared to the majority of the sample and ellipticals. Griersmith et al. explain their findings on the basis of the contamination of a dominant bulge by a small reddened component of gaseous emission and/or young stars from the disk, rather than by an abnormal bulge stellar population. The present investigation has the objective to check the conclusions of Griersmith et al. JHK observations were conducted at several points in the two most extreme cases, including NGC 7814 and 5746. It is found that the spatial distributions of the JHK colors of the two galaxies are strongly correlated with the location of the young disk component in both galaxies.
