UBV photographic photometry performed with the Cuffey iris astrophotometer at Saint Mary's University on Schmidt plates obtained in 5-30-min exposures at Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory during 1969, 1970, and 1973 is reported for 78 stars toward the open cluster Ru 36. The data are presented in tables and graphs and characterized. Seven potential cluster members are identified, including five probable candidates on the main sequence and two K3 giants, and the E(B-V) and distance estimates obtained (0.13 mag and 2.1 kpc) are found to be in agreement with those of Vogt and Moffat (1972). Ru 36 is characterized as a sparsely populated open cluster of age about 200 Myr (for the earliest spectral type) located in the local Orion spiral feature about 10 pc below the galactic plane.
