We discuss the possibility to search for cosmic ray nuclearites using large volume neutrino telescopes. We present a short review of the nuclearite expected properties, focussing on their interaction with the Earth's atmosphere and sea water, and on the specific energy loss mechanisms that could make them detectable in undersea neutrino detectors. After a brief description of the ANTARES telescope, currently under deployment in the Mediterranean Sea, we will discuss its sensitivity to down-going nuclearites, and present some results from the Monte Carlo simulations of such events.
