On the basis of a model describing the heat exchange between the melt
and the atmosphere, a comparative evaluation is made of the rates of
solidification of an effusive melt on Venus and the earth. It is
contended that straticulate rocks on Venus cannot be formed through the
successive solidification of effusions of magmatic melt.
