The RR Lyrae stars in and within 25 arcmin of the LMC halo globular cluster NGC 2257 are identified and photometrically studied. Iris, PDS, and visual photometry is presented of photographic plates taken at CTIO during 1971-82 are presented. The pulsation properties of the cluster and field variables are derived and compared with those of RR Lyrae stars in the Galaxy. The plate material and data analysis are described and the photometry is used to derive periods, light curves, epochs of maximum light, etc., for 38 of the 41 cluster RR Lyrae stars and for 23 of 47 suspected variables in the surrounding field. Correlations involving these observations are presented and discussed.
