The chemistry of OD is presented, and the abundance of OD in diffuse and
dense molecular clouds is estimated. Substantial enhancements in the
abundance of OD relative to OH are predicted, and it is argued that
density ratios of 0.01 or greater are likely in many clouds. A search
could add OD to the list of known interstellar molecules.
