The (low resolution) spectrum of the planetary nebula NGC 6302 in the wavelength range from 7.5 μm to 22 μm is presented. The strongest feature in the spectrum is due to a line at 7.7 μm, which is identified as Ne VI seen for the first time. The Ne V line at 14.3 μm is also seen for the first time. The weakness of this line relative to Ne V lines in the visible spectrum indicates that it is formed at a density of 3×105cm-3 which is considerably higher of 104cm-3 at which the S II, O II and C III lines are formed. The Ne II and Ne III lines are also observed, making it possible to accurately derive the total neon abundance.
