Using the data lists in the RC2 and UGC catalogues the authors show that
the distribution of flattening of lenticular galaxies is related to the
galaxian density of the environment. If the effect is real it can be due
to a higher probability of finding lenticulars with large bulge-to-disk
diameter ratios in regions of low density.
