The papers in this volume demonstrate the importance of adopting a multi-wavelength approach to understanding hot, massive stars and their environments. They also reflect an excitement about recent developments in the field of massive star research that was so clearly evident during the meeting in Liège. Here I review some of the topics and results that were presented at the meeting that capture a sense of the emerging issues and opportunities in massive star studies.
