The nuclear mass, bolometric luminosity, and the Eddington luminosity are calculated for 50 type I Seyfert galaxies based on data concerning the luminosity and line-width of the nuclear Balmer line H-beta, assuming a mass accretion flow model. It is noted that the full width at zero intensity, rather than the full width at half maximum, should be employed to provide the velocity in the central broad line region. Histograms are presented for the nuclear mass and the ratio of the bolometric luminosity and the Eddington luminosity, which can be readily compared with analogous data for type II Seyfert galaxies and QSOs. The implications of these statistical results are examined in terms of the spherically symmetric flow model of mass accretion.
