H I 21-cm line observations of 42 galaxies in the field of the Hydra I (=Abell 1060) clusters are presented. 17 galaxies have been detected, raising the number of known redshifts in the area of the Hydra I cluster to 96. The authors find evidence for an increase of the H I-deficiency factor radially inwards to the centre of the cluster. The distance modulus of the Hydra I cluster relative to the Virgo cluster from the (blue magnitude) Tully-Fisher relation (2m.68±0m.21) is in agreement with other determinations and with the value based on the ratio of cluster redshifts (2m.61±0m.15). Thus a constraint to the infall velocity of the Local Group toward the Virgo cluster is given to values less than 350 km s-1.
