Solar Flares: Classification

Scientific paper

First a review of the recently proposed classifications of flares is
given. Then based on recent observations in multi-bands of energy, a new
classification method of solar flares is introduced. In this method, the
solar flares are completely grouped into eight categories according to
observed phenomena of flares in optical, radio and X-ray regions.
