Anomalous abundances of elements among solar flare particles have previously been interpreted in terms of a contribution from pre-acceleration in collapsing magnetic neutral sheets. Here, we examine the isotopic anomalies which are predicted by this pre-acceleration mechanism. We find enhancements of neutron-rich isotopes, but the enhancements are not a monotonic function of the mass ratio. Thus, enhancement of 22Ne/20Ne need not be accompanied by any significant enhancements in, say, 18O/16O or 26Mg/24Mg. High temperatures (such as those in flares) favor enhancement of 22Ne/20Ne as the dominant isotopic anomaly. These results may help to account for some of the observed isotopic anomalies among solar energetic particles.
