R 81, the only known P Cygni-type star in an eclipsing binary system has been monitored spectroscopically and photometrically for almost 3 months. Based on these data we derive orbital and stellar parameters for this system. R 81 is probably a semi-detached binary with strong interaction. The primary shows strong quasi-periodic non-radial pulsations. The nature of the companion is hard to determine because it is embedded in an extended envelope.
