The predictions of primordial nucleosynthesis models within the context of the standard hot big bang model are reviewed with particular emphasis given to the predicted abundance of He-4. The observed abundances of the light elements D, He-3, He-4, and Li-7 are surveyed and bounds to the primordial abundances are inferred. Theory is compared with observations, and constraints are derived on the number of kinds of light, weakly interacting particles which may exist.
