Spectra centered on the solid CO at a wavelength of 4.67 microns for eight stars in or behind the quiescent dark cloud complex in Taurus are presented. The solid CO profile is dominated by a sharp component at 4.673 microns. Consideration is given to the correlation of the peak optical depth in the CO feature with visual extinction and with the depth of the water-ice feature at 3.0 microns. The data are compared with gas-phase column densities deduced from mm-wave observations of CO emissions, suggesting that about 30 percent of the available CO is depleted onto grains.
