Simultaneous photoelectric radial velocities and BVRI photometry are presented for the delta Scuti star 1 Mon. From these and other published data the spherical harmonic orders of the three principal oscillations are estimated. The strongest oscillation is found to be an overtone radial pulsation while the two other oscillations are most probably dipole modes split by stellar rotation. The radius of 1 Mon is estimated to be 2.2 solar units by application of a modified Wesselink technique to the radial mode.
