Calculations are performed which demonstrate how features such as the interstellar oxygen absorption edge at 0.532 keV in the low-energy X-ray spectrum of the Crab Nebula would be affected by the interstellar abundance of molecular hydrogen. Results of the calculations are presented in tables giving the depth of the oxygen absorption edge and the height of the oxygen bump in the nebula's low-energy X-ray spectrum as functions of H2 abundance. These results show that both parameters decrease noticeably when H2 is present in the interstellar medium. It is concluded that the oxygen feature is a sensitive indicator of the H2 abundance in the direction of the Crab Nebula.
