The paper studies the propagation of internal Alfven-acoustic-gravitational waves in the presence of an aligned magnetic field in a compressible stratified inviscid perfectly conducting isothermal atmosphere where the mean horizontal velocity varies only with height. The Doppler-shifted frequencies at which the waves exhibit singular properties are determined, and the singularities are resolved by applying the analysis of Booker and Bretherton (1967). The absorption of such waves near the critical levels is investigated by means of the momentum-transfer method, the group-velocity approach, and the wave-normal technique. The results show that the waves are completely absorbed as they pass through two of the critical levels, but will pass through the other two critical levels without attenuation. It is concluded that the number of critical levels is increased by the combined effect of compressibility and the magnetic field.
