This report describes the concept of the lunar satellite and the Mars explorer. For the lunar satellite, two missions were proposed; one is lunar mapping and resource investigation using remote sensing and the other is a moon landing experiment using an experimental spacecraft for development of navigation control system and propulsion system, as well as lunar observation and environmental measurement in the daytime. For these missions required sensors, observatory orbit, data transmission system, satellite system and the configuration were reviewed concerning the feasibility of a lunar satellite, required technique, requirements of sensors, and problems. Mars exploration includes sample collection on Phobos and Mars, and observation by several explorers that will land on Mars. Samples will be brought to the Earth by the sample returning vehicle. In Mars observation, not only Mars but also Phobos and Deimos will be the target of remote sensing and landing explorer. This report reviewed techniques required in optical navigation, landing, sample collection and recovery, observatory sensor, and possible explorer system. Mission profile was also proposed.
