A 13.7 m radio telescope with a metal space frame was used to determine the supplementary attenuation caused by radome during rain and snowfall. Measurements were made at 11.4 GHz, and the measured attenuation (in dB) can be expressed by the formula kR to the alpha power, where k = 1.7, alpha = 0.281, and R is the precipitation rate in mm/h. Wet snow on the radome can cause high attenuation reaching 5...6 dB. The accumulated dirt on the radome increases the rain attenuation values and recovery times.
