Thanks to high-resolution observations of type II bursts in the range from 30 to 76 MHz, it is shown that the low-frequency spectrum of the harmonic component is much wider (3 times) than that of the fundamental emission, whatever the frequency of observation. The origin of these differences is discussed in terms of radio-wave propagation in the corona and the conversion of plasma waves into electromagnetic waves.
