A stationary solution of one-fluid hydrodynamics with a wave energy source is considered with reference to the solar wind. It is shown that, when the source is an extended one, it is difficult to explain the experimental observation of a sharp increase in the solar wind velocity in the transition zone. This difficulty is removed in the case of a spatially localized source.
