Ground state reaction rates were deduced from recent cross section measurements for the Ca-42(alpha, n), Ti-45, Ca-42(p, gamma)Sc-43, and Ca-44(p, n)Sc44 reactions. A comparison of these rates with those calculated from a statistical model of nuclear reactions (Woosley et al., 1975) shows good agreement for the first two, but the Ca-44(p, n) rate is more than a factor of 2 less than the theoretical prediction. Stellar reaction rates were derived from the ground state rates, and the role of these reactions in the approach to quasi-equilibrium during explosive silicon burning is discussed.
