The ratio of component separations and the ratio of component fluxes have been calculated for a sample of 72 double radio galaxies with m(v) not greater than 18. Results suggest that the pressure of the interstellar medium of radio galaxies is well approximated by an Emden isothermal gas sphere of core radius 20 kpc, extending out to 150 kpc, at which distance the radio components enter the intergalactic medium of smaller pressure gradient.
