The distribution of a variable y constructed from the pulse width and the maximum rate of change of polarization position angle is in excellent agreement with the prediction for a beam of elliptical cross section. The ratio of the semiminor to the semimajor axis of the ellipse is determined. The individual values of y allow determination of the pulse widths which would be observed at complete intersection of the beam by the observer's line of sight. The data are completely consistent with polar cap emission and the alignment model.
