A new method for the calculation of the depth-of-line formation in a magnetic field is suggested. The concepts of the equivalent line absorption coefficient and the equivalent source functions are introduced. Calculations have been performed for several concrete cases. It is concluded that in the calculations of the depth of line formation in a strong magnetic field the effect of the magnetic field must be taken into account.
