Rotation: Meteors, Rotation: Meteoroids
Scientific paper
Mechanisms of rotation of meteor bodies are analyzed. Due to mutual collisions in interplanetary space, most meteoroids forming optical and radio meteors possess a fast rotation during their entry into a planetary atmosphere. Large bodies with small geocentric velocities, which usually form meteorites, possess a slow rotation. Otherwise, they would be disrupted by centrifugal force.
