The turbulent bremsstrahlung process of Tsytovich et al. (1975) is reconsidered. In this mechanism the electrons that are resonant with an already existing nonthermal level of ion-sound waves radiate Langmuir waves. The efficiency of the process is derived in an independent way and corrections are found to the previous result. In particular it is found that Langmuir waves can only be produced efficiently when the ion-sound wave number is of the order of the Debye wave number. It is shown that in this case the consumed total ion-sound wave energy roughly equals the total amount of radiated Langmuir wave energy.
