A model for the transient 1720-MHz OH emission from the direction of the peculiar star V1057 Cyg is constructed. Its main features are that: the emission comes from a region of high density at a distance of 100 AU from the star; the region is heated by stellar radiation acting on dust grains and is cooled by CO line emission; the 1720-MHz emitting levels are inverted by collisions with H2 molecules.
