It is assumed that cosmions, a species of weakly interacting massive particles, are present in the sun and dominate the thermal transport in the core. The central temperature of the sun is lowered and the core is isothermal out to a mass fraction of order 0.05. As a consequence of the reduced core temperature, the solar neutrino problem is solved. In this paper, a set of linear stability equations valid for the solar core is derived in this context. A thermal instability in the solar core is found with a time scale typically on the order of a million years, but it could be as long as 100 million years.
